Jason Passmore is now accepting students in his private studio. Jason has been a music educator for the past 18 years( with 9 years experience in the public school system). He gives private, individualized lessons on saxophone, clarinet , flute, music theory and beginning piano.


Jason is involved with many educational organizations, including the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA), Music Educators National Conference(MENC), National Education Association(NEA), International Association of Jazz Educators (IAJE) and the North American Saxophone Alliance ( NASA)

Online lessons are simple to use, and are very effective way to learn. They began because I want to integrate current technologies, such as iChat and instant messaging, into my lesson structure. Now, I can teach anyone from anywhere there is an internet connection.



How Online lessons work:


Online Saxophone lessons rely on high-tech, yet easy to use online video conferencing technology. Lessons are typically 50 minutes long and are conducted just like traditional in person lessons. In addition to your computer, you will need high speed internet access, a webcam, and possibly a pair of headphones. If you don't already have a webcam I can help you get one.


Using modern video conferencing software you will be able to see and hear me on your screen and I will be able to hear and see you. Other advanced features allow me to play recorded music for you and write music notation directly on your screen.


Before your first lesson we will schedule an appointment to walk you through the setup of your webcam and video conferencing software. We'll take as much time as we need to get things working properly so you can be confident your first lesson will run smoothly.


Online lessons offer advantages. Students tend to be more focused and miss fewer lessons when participating in online lessons. Fewer lessons need to be canceled due to the teachers travel and performance schedule because lessons can be taught from any location.




Lesson Requirements


Students interested in cyberspace lessons must have access to the Internet, a computer with speakers and an internal microphone, and a computer camera. This is for live, synchronous lessons. For asynchronous lessons (trading audio and video files back and forth), students will also need to install Adobe Acrobat Reader, the Sibelius Scorch plugin, and Apple's iTunes and Quicktime or Microsoft Windows Media Player. Students will also need a music stand, metronome, tuner, and a CD, MP3, or minidisc player. Additionally, students are encouraged to purchase the Amazing Slow Downer software. Most lessons material will be distributed via PDF, HTML, and MP3 formats.
